No habeas cases to be heard this week. One (Downs v. Lape) was originally scheduled for Tuesday, but it got rescheduled for May.
Well, Alright, Alright, Alright. Matthew McConaughey has ANOTHER legal movie coming out this Friday. This one is called "The Lincoln Lawyer".
From the previews, it looks like he is one part defense attorney, one part action hero. It does appear that he runs around a lot and actually shoots a gun. The movie is based on a book by Michael Connelly, who I guess made his name with crime drama/noir books, but then redirected his energy towards legal thrillers.
It seems odd to me, but this is the third time that McConaughey will be playing a lawyer. He played one previously in Amistad and a Time to Kill. I say "odd" because, not matter what he does, he will always be Wooderson to me:
Honestly, I don't think that in the history of movies somebody has ever been so perfectly cast. It's total genius.
