I am happy to announce that I have added a new page entitled Pending Supreme Court Cases. I think the title pretty much says it all.
But let me explain the purpose of the page. I haven't put up too much information as to each case. I think SCOTUSblog is such a ridiculously comprehensive resource for information on Supreme Court cases that I didn't feel the need to double up on the effort. So, the purpose of the page is just to group these cases together as a quick reference for anybody looking to see what habeas cases are pending.
For each case, I give the name, docket number, status, and issue. The cases fall into three categories: (1) habeas cases (those without any parenthetical after the name), (2) front end cases (direct criminal appeals that will address a constitutional issue), and (3) habeas-related cases (these will be case-specific as to why they are habeas-related).
I should also note that, in one way, it is a double up of effort. As I noted around here recently, the Capital Defense Network has a page listing Supreme Court cases. It's mostly up to date, but it does not include front-end cases. Despite that very helpful page, I thought it was beneficial to have my own page around here.
