No habeas cases to be heard this week.
Recently, I came across the trailer of a potentially habeas-related movie coming out on October 15, 2010.
It's called "Conviction." Based on a true story, it's about a woman who becomes a lawyer in order to try and free her wrongfully-convicted brother. It's a pretty impressive cast: Hilary Swank, Sam Rockwell (always one of my favorite actors), Melissa Leo, Juliette Lewis, Minnie Driver.
My guess is that there was probably a habeas petition filed at some point in the real case as it would appear from the trailer that the brother spent a few years in prison. The odds on habeas being mentioned in the movie, though, are probably pretty low. Except that somewhat similarly-themed Lifetime movie did mention habeas, so you never know.
