Lots and lots of media coverage of yesterday's opinion. Here's the New York coverage:
New York Times - "Reluctantly, Court Upholds a Sex-Abuse Conviction"
Daily News - "Federal judges call on DA to reopen famous Friedman sex-abuse case"
Newsday - "Judge: Jesse Friedman wrongfully convicted in child sex case?"
New York Post - "Conviction upheld in Capturing the Friedman's case"
New York Magazine - "Court Ruling Somehow Makes Capturing the Friedman's Even More Sad"
And of course there is the New York Law Journal's article, which is subscription only.
Nevertheless, I did want to share a quote from the Law Journal article. Petitioner's attorney was Jennifer Bonjean and she was joined on the brief by Ron Kuby and David Pressman. Kuby has a great quote in the article about the court's "remarkable" opinion:
"I've never seen the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit criticize a district attorney's office and police practices with such vehemence -- nor have I ever seen them so vocally advocate for a reexamination of a case. . . . I've lost a lot of cases in the Second Circuit, but I've never lost one this well."
