Habeas Corpus - Carney Has Been Confirmed

Yesterday, the Senate confirmed Susan Carney as the newest Second Circuit judge. 

The vote was 71-28.  The Senators actually had an interesting debate as to whether Carney's lack of recent litigation rendered her unqualified to be a federal judge.  While I am rarely in the mood to hear Republican hypocritical objections to Democratic judicial nominees, I have previously stated that I think the debate over Carney's qualifications was a legitimate one.

Now that Carney has been confirmed, there is only one open seat in the Second Circuit with one pending nomination, Connecticut DJ Christopher Droney.
